COMPASS ROSE PROJECT ANNOUNCED
NUT TREE AIRPORT'S COMPASS ROSE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Rick Stockton, Wings Flight School's chief pilot, contacted EAA leadership about the need for volunteers to complete a re-make of our airport's compass rose.
This project is awaiting county approval, plan adoption, materials and layout patterns. The project is proposed to begin the last week of September. It will take a couple of week-ends to complete according to Rick. Those interested in being a part of this project may contack Rick at the Wing's Flight training office or send the editor an email. Other EAA chapters, 99 groups and others have had an enjoyable experience helping layout and painting these Compass Roses for their airports. Come out and help!

The project was a joint effort between the Chesapeake Sport Pilot flight school, which is based at the airport, the airport, and The Ninety-Nines. Nine volunteers, assisted by another half dozen “behind the scenes” helpers completed the layout and painting in just under six hours using a traditional 12-point pattern.
